WHO IS STIRLING JOHN?

Stirling John, an Ojibwa Inspirational Country Artist originally from the Saugeen First Nation Reserve in Ontario, now proudly calls Alberta home. Based just outside Edmonton, he is deeply involved with First Nation communities across Canada, particularly in supporting Indigenous youth. In 2022, Stirling focused his energy on recording a new project, drawing from his passions and commitment to community. The title track, “Where I’m Meant To Be,” reflects his personal journey and values.

Though Stirling’s love for music has always been strong, life led him away from it for a time. After initially pursuing a career as a police officer and starting a family, he eventually found his way back to his true passion: Inspirational Country Music. Stirling is dedicated to shedding light on real-life issues through his music, inspired by artists like Paul Brandt, The Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, and Rascal Flatts.

In addition to his music career, Stirling is actively involved in community outreach, volunteering his time to develop music programs for Indigenous students in underfunded schools. He focuses on educating and raising awareness about critical issues such as substance abuse, mental health, gang awareness, human trafficking, and domestic violence, particularly within Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan reserves.

Stirling’s commitment to helping others extends beyond music. He is the first Ambassador to the Veterans Association Food Bank in Alberta and has established the Stirling John Foundation for Youth Empowerment, providing mentorship and leadership to young people.

Over the past four years, Stirling has been recognized with numerous nominations at prestigious
awards ceremonies such as the JUNO Awards, Country Music Alberta Awards (CMAB), Western
Canadian Music Awards (WCMA), and Gospel Music Association (GMA).

Alongside these nominations, Stirling has achieved notable wins, including the 2022 Okimaw 7 Teaching Award and the esteemed 2023 WCMA Award for Spiritual Artist of the Year. Stirling garnered multiple accolades at the 2023 GMA Awards, securing  Country Artist of the Year, Indigenous Artist of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Furthermore, Stirling’s dedication to community service was recognized with the 2024 Country Music Alberta Community Spirit Award for his work with the Stirling John Foundation for Youth Empowerment.
